Effective January 1, 2023, applicants for examination will be tested on the 2021 International Plumbing Code or the 2021 International Fuel Gas Code.

Effective September 1, 2015, you must have 2 years of CURRENT work experience to qualify for a journeyman examination. You must have 1 year of CURRENT work experience to qualify for a master examination.

Also effective September 1, 2015, when you pass an examination, you have ninety (90) calendar days to obtain your certification from the date you pass your examination. If you do not obtain your certification within ninety (90) calendar days from the date you pass your examination, you will have to re-test.

Please note, if you submitted an exam application prior to January 1, 2023, you will need to review the updated exam bulletin attached to this Application for Examination.

If you pass a Journeyman or Master Plumber exam, and wish to continue performing gas fitting, as of September 1, 2015, you will be required to hold at least an Apprentice certification. If you currently hold a 2023 Apprentice certification, it will be valid through December 31, 2023.

If you pass a Journeyman or Master Gas Fitter exam, and wish to continue performing plumbing, as of September 1, 2015, you will be required to hold at least an Apprentice certification. If you currently hold a 2023 Apprentice certification, it will be valid through December 31, 2023.
