LICENSEES

Beginning January 1, 2025, continuing education (CE) will be required for all journeyman and master certificate holders who do not qualify for an age exemption. Continuing education requirements MUST be completed prior to renewing your 2026 certification and subsequent years.

Alabama Admin Code r 720-x-21 outlines that all CE MUST be completed prior to November 1.  If you have not completed your CE requirements by this date, you will be put on a deficiency plan and subject to a deficiency fee of $100.

From this page, you can find our provider lookup, training opportunities that are being offered by the Board for CE, and a document containing frequently asked questions regarding CE.

TO USE THE PROVIDER LOOKUP:  Click the “Approved CE Provider Lookup” icon below.  Click the drop down arrow and you will see each approved provider.  When you select a provider, click “search”.  This will populate each approved course by that provider.  If you wish to select one of their courses, visit their website listed or reach out via the contact information listed.  Providers are responsible for submitting your completion information to us. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THAT YOU ARE TAKING THE CORRECT TYPE COURSE BASED ON YOUR CERTIFICATION TYPE.  REQUIREMENTS OUTLINED AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

If you are age 65 or older as of January 1, 2026, you can qualify for an age exemption.  The required Age Exemption Form is linked on this page.  Complete it and submit along with the requested documentation.  If e-mailing, please submit to ce@pgfb.alabama.gov for most efficient processing.  This will only need to be completed once upon age qualification.  You do not need to resubmit annually.  If you turned 65 during 2026, you will not be eligible for the age exemption for your 2027 certification.  You will become eligible in calendar year 2027 for your 2028 certification and will need to wait until January 1, 2027, to submit your age exemption form.

If you have completed a course from a provider that is not approved by our Board that you believe may qualify as CE credit with our agency, you can submit the Non Traditional CE Request Form.  You MUST provide all requested information and submit the required $25 non-refundable fee along with the request form.  Incomplete submissions will not be considered. You can find the credit card authorization form or e-check authorization form by visiting our “Forms” page.  If submitting via e-mail, please submit to ce@pgfb.alabama.gov for most efficient processing.
